5th March 2010- Ahhhhhh, I still remember the experience for the first time climb a mountain. It took my family and me 5 hours to get to the top of the hill!. my dad, my mom, my sis all and myself safely arrive at the top but with lot of pit stops. hahaha.

The photo above taken when we took break during on the way down the hill. It just a few feet down from the top mountain. I still can remember vividly the cold whether and the hot tea. :)

Above photo really catch my eyes because the sunrise light coming in. The steam from the tea. The shop owner. At the same time it's also very challenging because of the light coming from behind.

I miss to travel around the world!

I have BAD news!

Dengan ini saya, Muhammad Adib b. Abdul Rashid, 921115105723. telah kehilangan beberapa perkara. :'( amat sedih. apatah lagi ia berkenan tentang hubungan selama 2 tahun sejak akhir form 4 semakin menghilang, hubungan saya dengan camera A200. Saya kehilangan:

1. Skill photography. apabila membndingkan semula gambar2 yg baru dan yg lama. saya sedar gambar tersebut dah makin tak lawa, dah kurang "uummmm". Skill yg amat tinggi nilainya. dan saya kehilangan nya.

2. Passion. Semangat saya untuk berfotografi pun dah berkurang. yelah sekarang kan dah busy, jadi mahasiswa lah katakan. TAPI, itu sepatut nya bukan alsan utk saya sbb mahasiswa pun still ada club fotografi, shutters. Malangnya sekali saya kehilangan passion tersebut.

3. Commitment. ini pun lagi satu. kekadang orang mintak suruh saya jadi fotografer. saya bagi banyak alsan utk mengelak. haish apa lah nk jadi, cita-cita nak jadi engineer yang bermatakan photographer. tapi dah malas.

Tapi korang semua boleh tolong! untuk mengekalkan gambar2 yang lawa kekal didalam blog ini utk terus menjadi tantapan korang semua, bolehkan...bolehkan?? :) kalau boleh korang motivasikan lah aku nie supaya aku terus bersemangat utk berfotograpfi, terus bersamngat utk mengambil gambar keindahan alam ini. terus bersemangat untuk belajar dan belajar skill2 mengambil gambar. terus bersemangat untuk keluar dan mengambil lagi banyak gambar dan menambahkan lagi koleksi2 gambar dan yang penting sekali, terus bersamngat untuk MENGEKALKAN dan MENGUPDATEKAN blog ini. btul tak?

harap korang bolehlah "pulangkan" semula apa yang aku sudah hilang untuk beberapa bulan ini. Terangilah aku semula! :D

Buying.DSLR?

Hmmm.. Its been a long time I make any post..well almost all my blog post I wrote that HAHA! The inconsistency of my blog.. haish. I don’t think I still have any reader out there. Well this post is for the few peoples who asked me “any buying tips for buying camera?” and it also because of the “trend” of having DSLR without knowing how to operate it. Go to shopping complex on weekend and you could see 5-6 person bring DSLR just to take snap shot and having their mode dial “permanently” on Auto mode. Such a waste.

Well I only experience once on buying DSLR camera. So maybe my tips “tak boleh pakai punya” tips. Its up to you whether u want to consider it or not. Be intellect. Most of my tips will not be on the technical stuff of the camera model or system. Its more bout your own self.

The first thing that I consider when I’m bout to buy DSLR camera is “will my interest in photography will stay long?” or “is this hobby only stay for a while?”. I do not want to waste RM2k on camera that I will only use for 3 months! Maybe now u have the interest in photography, but we never know bout the future. so what I did is I work a bit to get enough money for the camera instead of me just ask for it. This will make u feel more appreciate the camera that you will buy. So do you really interest in taking photos and want to spend that much? If not, just buy a compact digital that would be enough.

The next question you need to ask yourself is “Do I really need that?”. So do you really need all the “superb” features in the camera? Need HD 1080i video mode? 10 frames/sec? iso range from iso10-iso99,9999? 25Mega pixel? iSweep panorama 3D? or u just need a camera that can operate to take photo for you under your full command. Which you can alter the shutter speed, aperture, ISO or all together at once. Which you control the exposure. So from these question you will know what level of camera you want to buy. Whether it’s a compact digital camera, high-end compact, superzoom, compact camera like-DSLR(Olympus Pen, GF1,Sony NEX-5), entry level, advance level or you want to directly jump to high-end pro DSLR.

The next big thing is, BUDGET! The thing that really2 limits your options to buy which camera. From your budget you maybe want to spend only 2/3 of that on camera body+kitlens and the other 1/3rd for future upgrade such as new lens or flash. Yeah prepare to invest more in the future because this is really an expensive hobby. Or the 1/3rd you can spend on photography classes which you can learn the basic of photography and take great photos

My fifth tip is to KNOW what is camera! This is really important. Because you really need to know it before you buy it. At least know the basic! If you bout to buy DSLR, read articles in the net to know bout DSLR. What make it difference from compact digi cam. At least know how to control exposure by using aperture and shutter priority mode. Because after u buy the camera its not the time for you to learn the basic on how to operate it. Instead you already should focus on composition, lighting, colours and many more. If not you will start losing your interest on photography very soon because with all the hassle and the bulkyness of DSLR.

Lastly, CAMERA IS JUST A TOOL FOR YOU TO CAPTURE PHOTOGRAPH, ITS YOU WHO MAKE THE PHOTOS LOOK GREAT, NOT CAMERA. So whats the point having a thousand types of sketching pencil if you do not how to sketch, what the point of having an expensive rare guitar if you do not know how to play any music and whats the point of having wide range of brushes if u do not know how to paint??.

so think about it. :D have fun hunting the right one!

I covered a ground distance of 1,200KM! from subang to kelantan to terengganu and back to subang. It's a great vacation with family members. Took few photos. went to kelantan first, it took around 8hours to get there.

Spent couple days at kota bharu then go to terengganu, went to masjid kristal and taman tamadun Islam(TTI), the detail that they put in the replica of mosques is really detail. The entry fee is rm15 and you get rm3 cafe voucher. its reli worth it. sry did not upload any photos in TTI. lastly back to SJ, another 8hours of travel.

YEAH! after a few months of working at MPH, at last i have enough money to buy external flash and new lens. bought it a month ago at low yat. :D :D the external flash is sony HVL F-42AM and the lens is a prime lens, 50mm f1.8. alrdy did some project with them,self-portrait xD. the flash really help me on low-lighting situation and the lens optical quality is really good. :D pretty happy with the money i spent.

I made a DIY softbox, softbox is a thing that soften a light, make the lighting and shadow less harsh. mostly professional use it in studio for portrait. to buy one set of studio lighting is sooooo expensive, so i just made one using boxes, and tape. try it yourself

Its been so long im not updating this blog. sorry bout that!

Egypt is such a great place for photographer. I went there 2 weeks before spm result out. well i want to highlight this great place in Egypt called Mt. Sinai. Very nice sunrise up there at the peek. it took my family 5 hours to reach the top! haha. start walking from 1 in the morning and we arrive there around 6am. Btw if you dunno where on earth is Sinai, here refer to this map. :D

It feels really great to hold your on photograph. i think this is the only photograph that i really finish up. xD ya its black and white. using canon mp145 printer. the medium is glossy photo paper 4x6inch.inkjet catridge PG-40 and PG-41. Print directly from Adobe Photoshop. This is the best portrait i have so i choosed this photo.

Tomorrow, my trial starting alrdy! So for now i maybe gonna away from photography untill SPM is done. After SPM im going to work to get some money to buy lens or/and external flash!. hehe.

woahh!! long time me not update my blog. So today im gonna update my blog about silhouette. :D

What is a Silhouette?

In photography, a silhouette is defined as an outline that appears dark against a light background. More specifically, it is where your subject is seen as a black shape without detail against a brighter background. This is an artistic outcome that many photographers like to perfect.

The technique

is to put your subject against strong ighting etc. the sun, window, spotlight. you will need to meter the BG instead of your subject. If you are using compact digicam. just point and shoot, it will give a nice silhouette also. Tips when making silhouette photo :-

-do not look directly to the sun!

-use a very easy to recognize subject silhouette

-do not merge your subject silhouette with other silhouette.

-be creative

u may try your own way of silhouette,u did not need to follow my tips all the time.have fun trying it! :D

Panning is one of the technique in photography. The technique is used to separate a moving subject from the BG. Many motor sport photographer would use this technique, its easy to understand but it hard to master.

lets make u understand hows the BG can be motion blur w/o blurring the subject. visualize you are taking photograph of moving car at highway with slow-shutter speed.(eg. 1/10sec 1/8 sec). The car must be blur right? but see the BG, its not very blur. you still can see the road and all the trees in it shape. We dun want that. We want the opposite thing, sharp subject, blur BG.

this is how u set the camera for the technique, make your camera shutter speed slow, if the subject is moving at very high speed, then 1/15sec is enough, but if the subject move slow, then u would maybe need 1/8sec or even lower and set the Auto Focus mode to Auto focus-continuous(AF-C) this will make the camera keep focussing on the subject even the subject is moving. another thing is to set the camera drive mode also to continuous shot. the last thing is to off the camera/lens anti shake system.(the camera/lens will think that the camera is shaky when do panning, the camera will try to correct it but end up messing the photo)but if u anti shake system have a special anti-shake like nikkor lens that have "VR active",turn it on then.

This is how u take the photo, first of all u will need to wait the subject to come into your view. let say the subject is a car and the scene is highway. Now u would need to keep tracking the car in ur camera. when the camera move from right to left, your camera also need to move from right to left with the same speed of your subject. when the car is almost in front of u, press the shutter button w/o release it, and KEEP TRACKING, do not stop tracking the car when u press the shutter button.
preview the image, there will be few photos of the subject, see how sharp is ur photos and how blur is ur BG, if the motion blur is too much until it make the subject blur also, u maybe want to increase the shutter speed(1/20 sec 1/25sec). if its freeze the BG or not much blur then u will need to decrease the shutter speed,make it slower(1/4th of a sec or even 1/2 sec).
This type of photo u can use image editing photo to get it, but it will look a bit unreal.

Hey its been a long time for me x update. Portrait is a photograph of person or group. Its very hard for me to get a very good portrait. A good portrait should have a story or expression in it. Me, still trying very hard to achieve that kind of portrait, my portrait always look bored. A portrait that ppl will not look at it twice.
Sometimes convert a photograph to black white could achieve a better result than a color photograph. It can show much more expression.

This is the 1st time me trying make automobile photograph. In general its a product photography or still life photography. Its pretty hard actually. I really cannot do anything with this car. 1st because its not mine. so i cannot move it to a place i like. The place and lighting(the shadow and the sun) is pretty bad. no space for me to move around and trying to get a good angle. I also did not know what to do in the post process of automobile photograph.

Dalam artikel ini, saya akan berkongsi tips dan idea untuk fotografer (aras permulaan / beginner).

Perkara yang ingin saya kongsi ialah perkara yang paling penting dalam menghasilkan imej yang "boleh pakai" terus dari kamera (useable image straight out of camera). Perkara yang saya maksudkan ialah EXPOSURE.

Terdapat 3 unsurutama yang mempengaruhi exposure sesuatu imej dan ketiga-tiganya saling bergantung antara satu sama lain. Unsur tersebut ialah ISO, Shutter Speed dan Aperture. Saya cenderung menggunakan istilah THE EXPOSURE THRIAD (tetiga pendedahan "betul ke?")

Kita mulakan dengan ISO.

ISO dari aspek fotografi analog ditafsirkan sebagai petunjuk kesensitifan filem terhadap cahaya. Ia diukur dalam nombor 100, 200, 400 dan seterusnya.

Dari aspek fotografi digital pula, ISO ditakrif sebagai kesensitifan sensor kamera terhadap cahaya. Ukurannya juga sama dengan ukuran kesensitifan filem. Semakin besar nombor, maka semakin sensitif sensor/filem terhadap cahaya. begitulah juga sebaliknya, semakin rendah nombornya maka semakin kurang sensitif sensor/filem terhadap cahaya.

ISO yang rendah biasanya digunakan semasa kita menggambar objek atau subjek yang mempunyai cahaya persekitaran yang terang (bright ambient light). ISO yang tinggi pula digunakan dalam persekitaran yang suram atau kelam pencahayaannya atau semasa kita hendak menggambar objek yang bergerak laju. Tapi, imej kita akan dimonopoli oleh noise (bintik-bintik yang tidak dikehendaki) yang akan menjejaskan kualiti imej.

Apa pula Shutter Speed?

Shutter Speed ialah tempoh bukaan shutter semasa kita menggambar.

Dari aspek fotografi analog, ia ditakrif sebagai tempoh filem didedahkan (exposed) kepada objek yang digambar. Begitu juga dari aspek fotografi digital. Cuma filem digantikn dengan sensor.

Shutter Speed diukur dalam unit saat. Atau dalam kebanyakan keadaan ia diukur dalam unit per seratus bahkan per seribu saat. Dalam kamera, sekiranya ditunjukkan nombor 20", ia bermaksud sensor akan didedahkan selama 20 saat. Sekiranya nombor 20 ditunjukkan, ia bermaksud sensor akan didedahkan selama 1/20 saat. Kebanyakan kamera mempunyai shutter speed bermula dari 30 saat hingga 1/8000 saat.

Pemilihan shutter speed bergantung kepada Peraturan Ibu Jari (Rule of Thumb) yang menyatakan shutter speed adalah bersamaan atau laju daripada 1/(panjang focal lens) saat. Contohnya jika anda menggunakan lens 200mm, maka anda perlu menggunakan shutter speed MINIMUM 1/200saat untuk mendapatkan imej yang tajam (sharp). Namun, peraturan ini semakin dilupakan atau tidak diaplikasi semenjak teknologi penstabilan imej samada Image Stabilizer (IS Canon) mahupun Vibration Reduction (VR Nikon).

Aperture: Apa ni?

Secara umumnya, aperture ialah saiz bukaan lensa. Ia diukur dalam unit fX.Y. Dimana X dan Y adalah nombor contohnya f1.2, f1.4, f2, f2.8 dan seterusnya.

Semasa kita mengklik shutter, lensa akan membuka bilah aperture (blades) untuk membenarkan cahaya masuk menuju ke sensor. Semakin rendah nilai nombornya, maka semakin besar bukaan bilah. Justeru, semakin banyak caaya yang masuk. Begitu juga sebaliknya. Semakin tinggi nilai nombornya, maka semakin kecil saiz bukaan bilah. Justeru semakin sedikit jumlah cahaya yang masuk.

Pemilihan nilai aperture berkait rapat dengan satu istilah yang sering dimanipulasi oleh fotografer-fotografer profesional untuk menghasilkan imej yang ada unsur WOW!!!. Istilah tersebut ialah Depth of Field (Kedalaman Medan). Secara umumnya, DOF ialah medan / bahagian / zon dalam imej yang dalam fokus (In focus). Istilah DOF akan diterangkan dalam artikel saya yng akan datang.

Kesimpulannya, ketiga-tiga unsur ISO, Shutter Speed dan Aprture berkait rapat antara satu sama lain dalam menghasilkan imej yang baik. Pengubahan salah satu unsur memerlukan anda mengubah sama ada 1 atau 2 unsur yang lain untuk mendapatkan exposure yang baik (tanpa menggunakan flash / lampu denyar).

Aku baru join sekolah pnya editorial board this year.Honestly, aku x suka sgt ambik gmbr event.Must always think about "oficial photo".

Ini adalh Blog pertama aku! Blog ini hanya menceritakan kisah hidup aku sebagai photographer(still newbie! x tahu layak atau x, nk dipanggil sbgi photographer pun). Mcm mana aku blh termasuk dlm dunia photography? masa tu last year bulan 4 mcm tu, tgh tgk Youtube. Org buat effect slow shutter(Pika2 Video!). Msa tu x tahu apa, so gi ah check mcm mn dia buat. msa tulh check psal camera semua.masa tu x tahu pun apa tu Single Lens Reflex(SLR) camera.haha.pastu the next thing happen is Imamaul bwak Nikon D40 dia ke sklh.Aku pn test lah camera dia,mmg terus suka ah pegang camera tu! x lepas2! paastu blik rumah terus check pasal photography.bukak semua online tutorial. Pastu aku tahu yg Nadia Fathin plak ada Nikon D60.apa lagi aku pn gi outing ah dgn dia gi jln2 ambik gmbr around ss15 smpi lake view!(bulan 7 last year)

Pastu aku pn cari ah duit nak beli camera,kerja kat bawang merah.Dapat ah gaji pastu mintak abah top-up nk cukup kan beli camera.nak decide beli camera tu mmg susah!. Nikon D60 atau sony A200? nikon D60 lh,jap2, Sony ah.. At last gi kedai test kaw2 dua2 camera! aku pn decide beli Sony A200. The next day terus pergi fraser hill!

aku try all kind of photography.Landscape,Portrait,Macro..etc.etc..
mcm tu lah bermulanya aku sebagai photographer..and i taking photography juast as my hobby.. =D (ini blog tiada emoticon ke?)
